Bloomberg College Editors' Leadership Workshop

New York, NY

Learn from the Pros
Improving the quality of campus newspapers and encouraging outstanding college editors to consider journalism careers are the goals of the Bloomberg College Editors' Leadership Workshop, established by the Graduate School of Journalism in 1998 and sponsored by Bloomberg.

Early each summer 15 to 20 college journalists, mostly from institutions with small or no journalism programs, spend a week talking shop and exploring issues with professionals and professors. Discussions continue throughout the year on an electronic list.

The workshop provides tips on better reporting, writing, editing and management and how to launch a journalism career. Sessions are held at the Graduate School of Journalism and at news organizations in New York City.

Housing on campus and most meals are included with workshop enrollment.

Who is Eligible?
Only college journalists returning to positions of leadership on their campus newspapers in the fall may apply. Preference is given to candidates from colleges or universities with no journalism programs. Upon notification of acceptance, a $150 registration fee is required to confirm participation.
