The Chronicle is looking for a creative, intelligent, energetic,
full-time intern interested in a hands-on newsroom experience at a small, daily
newspaper. Interns will have the opportunity to build a portfolio and will be
used according to their talents and capabilities. Internship opportunities are
available in the editorial, advertising, graphics and photography departments.
Interns can arrange to receive college credit through their university.

Essential
qualifications

Preferable Criteria: Career pursuit in one of the following:
Communications/ English/ Journalism. Strong writing, proofreading and
interviewing skills. Internet savvy and able to gather information effectively.
Must meet deadlines. Detail-oriented, flexible, organized and able to complete
assignments. Photography, page design (Quark XPress) and advertising skills a
plus. Must be high school graduate, upperclassmen preferred.

Training
provided

Living arrangements are the responsibility of the applicant, but
a monthly stipend of $100 dollars will be provided. Please send resume, cover

Mission

With an emphasis on local and
regional news, The Dalles Chronicle is a small-town daily that publishes
Tuesday through Friday and Sunday, circulation 5,500. It is located in the Columbia
River Gorge National Scenic Area. The gorge is a favorite stop for tourists
visiting Oregon and offers a wide variety of outdoor recreational activities.
