AAJA Executive Leadership Program
ELP looks at how Asian American and Pacific Islander values relate to high-level decision-making processes and leadership development. Two-session program explores the responsibilities and challenges in the newsroom.
Prime Movers
This pilot-program enables veteran journalists, or Prime Movers, to share their knowledge and experiences with junior colleagues, or Rising Stars, SFSU journalism students and Bay Area high school journalists.
Politics & Journalism Semester
During 16 weeks in Washington, students work full-time in major news bureaus. Students pay no tuition or fees. Each receives a $3,000 stipend to help with Washington living expenses.
Blunt Youth Radio Project
Since 1994, WMPG's Blunt Youth Radio Project has created a space for young people in the Portland, Maine area to explore their community and develop their voice through the first hand experience of media creation.
Scripps Howard Institute on the Environment
Southeast Florida is the 2007 setting for The Scripps Howard Institute on the Environment, an intensive five-day program of continuing education for working reporters who cover the environment. Application deadline is March 15, 2007.
New York Media Experience Program
The New York Media Experience Program is operated by Marist Colleges Communication Program, which has more than 25 years of experience placing undergraduate students in New York City internships.
The Sulzberger Leadership Program
Participants must be nominated by their news organization. The program will accept only the most senior and highest potential executives from both the business and editorial sides of newspaper, broadcast, magazine, and Internet news businesses.
The Fund for American Studies
TFAS brings together the brightest students from around the world for an intense academic and cross-cultural experience. Participants earn academic credit from Georgetown University and become a part of a worldwide network of young leaders.
Poynter Summer Fellowships for Young Journalists
For graduates in journalism, the liberal arts, and graphic or visual design. Poynter provides financial support to summer fellows who are unable to pay the full $3,000 tuition for the six-week program.
NBC's News Associate Program
The News Associates program is a fast-track opportunity for people with the goal to learn news gathering and production skills. It is not designed to train people who wish to be on-air reporters.

BoldFaced Journalism
An intensive, one-day course in journalism for Bay Area teens and secondary teachers on January 20, 2007 at SFSU. $50 application fee for groups of 5 or more. $10 application fee for individuals.
Teens & Alcohol Project
Teen journalists report, write, blog, produce multimedia or take photographs that address the issue of teenage drinking. Students submit work to CIIJ by December 8, 2006. Winner announced December 15.
The Daily Princetonian Summer Journalism Program
Program welcomes about 20 students every year to Princeton University's campus for a 10-day, all-expenses-paid seminar. Our participants are sophomores and juniors from high schools across the Northeast and Chicago.
U.S.-Korea Journalists Exchange
The East-West Center program sends six Korean journalists to the U.S. and six U.S. journalists to South Korea to meet with government and business leaders, academics, non-governmental organizations and community members.
The Washington Post Young Journalists Development Program
The Post created the Young Journalists Development Program in 1997 to educate and cultivate talented young people who are interested in a career in newspaper journalism.
Reporting U.S. Foreign Policy Institute Program
A two-week concentration on U.S. foreign policy followed by a third week devoted to the relationship between the media and U.S. foreign policy and how to report U.S. foreign policy.
CBS News Minority Training Program
This program is targeted for journalists of color who have served in a Television newsroom for 2-3 years. It is a two-year program for one producer and one correspondent to work in a CBS affiliate.

UC Berkeley Program in Environmental Journalism
The school developed the program in response to the interests of students and out of a belief that more in-depth coverage of environmental issues would enhance not only the field of journalism but also the public dialogue.
Landmark Scholars Program
A minority "Landmark Scholars" program provides a $10,000 scholarship, two paid summer internships, and a full-time paid internship for at least one year after graduation.
Leroy F. Aarons Journalism Education Program
All of NLGJA’s education-related resources - the Educators’ Toolbox, Student Projects at the National Convention, NLGJA Excellence in Student Journalism Award, Internships and Scholarship Fund - now fall under this program.
Native Media Center Program
The mission of the UND School of Communication Native Media Center is to promote diversity in Communication by increasing awareness of American Indian issues among media professionals and attracting Native students into Journalism and Communications.
NABJ Media Institute
The NABJ Media Institute seeks to provide professional development, technical training, historical documentation and entrepreneurial guidance for black journalists and students, relating to the media industry.
Detroit Free Press High School Journalism Program
The program was designed to diversify Free Press readership while molding potential journalists and future citizens. Students involved in the program have won scores of local and national journalism awards and scholarships.
University of Mississippi High School Programs

Time Inc. Logan Associate Program
Qualified applicants should be recent graduates or in their final (senior) year of college. The candidate should have a strong desire to pursue a career on the business side of magazine publishing.
Los Angeles Times Student Journalism Program
Designed to support the education of high school and college students in the greater Los Angeles area who exhibit talent and interest in journalism. The program helps prepare participants for careers in print media.

News directors with more than three years of news directions experience may apply to become a Fellow of the Carole Kneeland Project News Director Development Program (NDDP).
Leadership Institute for Women Journalists
The week-long program is open to women working in the U.S. media who are aspiring leaders and mid-level managers who want to shine by sharpening their skills.
Youth Communications
Youth Communication helps teenagers develop their skills in reading, writing, thinking, and reflection, so they can acquire the information they need to make thoughtful choices about their lives. They run three major programs and many smaller projects.
National Arts Journalism Program
America’s sole academic center dedicated to the advancement of arts and cultural journalism and is a joint program of Columbia University's School of Journalism and School of the Arts.
Maynard Institute Editing Program
The six-week session immerses participants in everything from the basics of headline writing, grammar, page design and story organization to interpersonal skills that enable editors to work successfully with reporters and other editors.
Albert E. Fitzpatrick Leadership Development Institute
A three-day, hands-on program for new and middle managers of color. It is offered twice a year, in the spring and fall, in partnership with different media organizations and associations.
Maryland Scholastic Press Association Summer Program
Last year close to 120 high school students spent an intense week at the University of Maryland studying journalism at MSPA’s annual program.
Marine Biological Laboratory Science Journalism Program
Giving professional science reporters the chance to forget about story deadlines and the latest breakthroughs, and instead immerse themselves in the process of basic biomedical and environmental research.
University of Alabama Multicultural Journalism Program
Up to 30 students attend an intensive workshop held on the University campus each summer. The workshop emphasizes reporting, writing, editing, graphics, photography, production and basic communication skills.
NYU Journalism in London Summer
All NYU Summer in London courses carry four points of undergraduate credit that count toward the NYU journalism major and as electives for other NYU undergraduates. In the case of visiting students, transfer of credits is up to the student's home school.
Emma L. Bowen Foundation Work Study/Scholarship Program
Program is unlike traditional intern programs in that students work for partner companies during summers and school breaks from the summer following their junior year in high school until they graduate from college.
826 Valencia Field Trips
826 Valencia is a fun and inspiring place to come with a group of students to work on writing. Our space is free and available to teachers in the Bay area, grades 1ñ12, for field trips of all kinds.
American Indian Journalism Institute
Free program open to American Indian college students interested print journalism. Institute graduates earn four hours of transferable college credit and a $500 scholarship a one-year NAJA membership.
