Are you a talented writer looking to find your niche in
the world of food journalism? Are you willing to dedicate your time and
talents to an independent endeavor in exchange for a great audience and
the opportunity to help create the kind of food publication you’ve
always wanted to read?
Poor Taste magazine is searching for Spring/Summer 2011 interns in
New York. The internship cycle lasts from March 1 - Sept. 1. Applicants
must
be enthusiastic and knowledgeable about food + beverage culture, able to
work independently from home, and capable of meeting strict deadlines.
Open to students, graduates, and non-students. To apply, send resume,
cover letter, and three samples of your food-related work (or a link to
your blog) to riddhi@poortastemag.com by Feb. 21st.
Your cover letter should address the following:
1. Why are you interested in writing about food?
2. Best food trend in the last 5 years? Worst?
3. Best meal you’ve ever eaten?
4. Favorite culinary aspect of your city?
5. Favorite food media (can be magazines, blogs, television shows, books, et cetera)?
6. Why would you be a great match for this publication?
A little about the internship:
It's
very writing intensive -- you will write between one and two pieces a
week. You will also learn the constraints and rewards of working for the
web. It's about 15-20 hours a week. You can do it for college credit or
not -- we're comfortable either way.
What is Poor Taste?
We're a fast-growing web-based food
publication with a monthly readership of 10,000+. We're currently
operating our of four cities -- New York, LA, Chicago and San Francisco.
