The Multimedia
Intern will be an integral member of University Relations’ News Services team,
which works to communicate UCSF’s excellence in patient care, research and
education through mainstream and alternative media. The primary responsibility
of the intern will be to assist in the coordination and execution of a special
multimedia outreach project. This project will specifically require assistance
with all facets of audio and video production and post-production. On the
editorial side, responsibilities include: researching story ideas and
communicating in writing and on the phone with potential participants. On the
technical side, responsibilities include: grip/camera assist on field shoots,
digitizing media, Final Cut Pro video editing, plus audio and voice over
recording, editing and mixing, and posting the finished products to the Web.



 



Experience:



 



Graduate or
undergraduate journalism or communications students, as well as recent
graduates, may apply. Candidates should be able to work independently and as
part of a team. Strong candidates will be proactive and able to juggle several
assignments at once. Creativity and a sense of humor are a must.



 



Required skills:

-Detail oriented with an interest in communications or journalism (interest in health,
science or medicine preferred)

-Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills

-Interest in storytelling through multimedia

-Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and complete assignments with tight
deadlines

-Expertise in video editing (Final Cut) and audio editing



-Experience with content management systems preferred

-Photoshop and/or Illustrator experience



-Basic computer expertise (Outlook, Office, Google and YouTube; both
Mac and PC platforms)





To be
considered, you must be currently attending or recently graduated from an
accredited college with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above and you must
successfully pass a background check. The ideal candidates would be eager to
learn new things, resourceful, self-motivated, extremely well organized, and
enthusiastic about audio and video production. Internships require an average
of 3, 8-hour days (weekdays) per week for 10 weeks but may require additional
hours, evenings and weekends.



 



Pay:



$10/hour, part
time for 10 weeks. Flexible May through August.
